Parent Engagement Strategies
Mon, 17 Oct 2016, 8:00 AM – Tue, 18 Oct 2016, 5:00 PM HKT
Welcome to the Parent Engagement Strategies Conference!
If every child is going to succeed, it is paramount that we all work together as one! Working together, we can divide the tasks and multiply the success. Top community engagement practitioners from around Asia will offer presentations and lead workshops demonstrating evidence-based research practices and strategies that will result in increased parent and community engagement.
We are constantly challenged to identify the most effective means of communication with parents, as well as when to communicate and how much to communicate. What we often forget, is that there are several other colleagues in our school that are querying the same dilemma. When our school does communicate with parents, what we may also not understand is that several other concerned parties may be competing for their attention and action as well.
In this workshop we will explore the difference between schools that communicate with parents well and schools that don’t, and draw on experience from the corporate and political worlds for examples of best practice. Attendees will understand and consider why the clarity and consistency of messaging is important and how to leverage their communications with parents to enlist them as advocates of change; galvanizing community spirit and promoting meaningful school advancement.
Facilitators will demonstrate to participants how to make communications more clear, concise and effective. Participants will gain the confidence and knowledge to influence the development of school-wide communications policies that will identify and instruct how to appropriately use all communication channels with parents. Finally, participants will also be introduced to practical tools and ways in which a school's health can be measured by parent perceptions and what can be done with that information.
