The Yoga Room will be offering online yoga classes for students to continue their yoga journey during the outbreak of COVID-19.

About this Event

Our teacher - Janet Lau will come to the studio to conduct the classes and students can join the class through live video streaming - Zoom.

Yin Yang

Yin Yang Yoga blends the active sun or ‘yang’ energy of yoga asanas (postures) with the more reflective moon or ‘yin’ energy to bring strength and flexibility and a calm mind and relaxed body through the practices of breath work and relaxation techniques. This class blends the elements of yin yoga with those of vinyasa flow. The class includes some slow deep hip opening stretches and moves into a movement practice of connecting postures through breath.

Yin & Meditation

Our body has the ability and wisdom to heal itself, but we have chosen to listen to our mind more than our body. Our body is made to move, and our body is made to move freely, free from any alignment restrictions, moving beyond our rectangular mat. Guided by your intuition, your practice can be a combination of vinyasa, static hold, yin and chi-movement, depending on the needs of your body at that moment, you may find this a slow healing flow, whereas another person might find this a vigorous and detox flow. Either way, this practice can awaken your inner child, release any old judgments, nourish the love within yourself and let your body find its most appropriate form of healing for the body, heart, and mind. Listening to the body is the gateway to cultivate unconditional love for ourselves. The class will be concluded with 20 to 30 minutes of meditation.

*This class is best enjoyed by practitioners who have at least one year of regular yoga practice.

About Janet Lau

Dedicated to integrating yoga, life wisdom and mindfulness practices, Janet Lau has been teaching since 2006. She has presented at TEDx and is a published author, releasing her first book in Chinese, “Living with Yoga and Mindfulness” in 2014. Janet holds a masters degree in Buddhist studies and combines ancient yoga wisdom, Buddhism and spirituality into her teaching. As an experienced registered yoga teacher and a teacher in mindfulness meditation, she cultivates an understanding of emotional balance, anatomy as well as yin yang yoga techniques. She has also assisted Baron Baptiste and Paul Grilley during teacher trainings and has taught on retreat with Zen Master, Thich Nhat Hanh.

Honoured as an ambassador for Easyoga (2010-present) and Lululemon (2009), Janet is regularly featured in newspaper, magazines, and radio talk shows in Southeast Asia.
