National Science Fiction Day with Big Nothing Books

A spate of science fiction classics graced the silver screen (and boob tube) this year. Were they truthful to the book? Let's find out!
About this event
In 2021, Apple TV released an adaptation of Isaac Asimov's Foundation, and Frank Herbert's Dune was all the rage at the box office. Did these works deserve to be re-made? Are the books more succinct in their social criticism?
On National Science Fiction Day (US) this year, we will discuss our reactions to the film/TV adaptations, their connections to present-day events, and whether their narrative remains as powerful today as it did at publication.
But that's not all. We will reserve a time to discuss recommendations for reading, then examine a few classics (and modern-day classics) of science fiction. The truth is out there?
This meeting is held on Microsoft Teams.
