About this event
Understanding the science behind sleep can help prepare you and your little ones for the journey ahead after their arrival. If you are an existing parent and have been asked the question 'How many hours did your baby sleep last night?" or pre baby you have been warned "Enjoy your sleep now because you won't get any for the first 18 years..." There can be many triggers for people when it comes to sleep in conversations and in their own experience, in this session the speakers talk about the science behind sleep, how you can create the best conditions for yourself and your baby and what challenges you may face along the way and how to overcome them. Whether you are preparing yourself for your new arrival, are having trouble with your current sleeping little ones or just want to hear stories about how you can sleep better as an adult this session will share helpful tools and techniques to guide you.
Speakers:
Gemma Fisk
Certified Infant Sleep Consultant (The Sleep Nanny Academy - CPD Accredited). Adult Sleep Behavioural Therapy (The Parenting and Health Institute) - Diploma. Gemma is a Certified Infant and Adult Sleep Consultant based in Hong Kong. She believes firmly in a holistic and science based approach to help adults and our children to sleep better. As she was once a sleep deprived, desperate mother who would've done anything for sleep when her first daughter was waking every hour at night, she has an empathic approach and therefore a strong connection with the families she works with. As the partner of a cargo pilot, she is also witness to the complications of disturbed sleep of someone who has irregular working hours and sleeping patterns which has been a huge drive to begin the journey of a sleep coach.
Sandy Irby
Sandy Irby is a lawyer, writer, wife and mother to three young, beautiful children: Brennan (7), Joshua (3) and Samantha (18 months). She is COO of KacePack, a packaging company serving the legal North American cannabis industry, a reiki student, and an avid reader. Sandy is battled-tested in crisis management. She moved with her family from Brooklyn, NY to Mid- Levels, Hong Kong in August 2020 during the height of the global pandemic. Her spouse Bryan slings beer as Deputy General Counsel of Budweiser APAC.
