Reading, writing and learning help to develop and foster a child’s natural curiosity, spark their imagination, expand their horizons and expose them to new ideas. You and your little one are invited to explore our lively exhibition and participate in various fun and interactive workshops connected to writing especially for parents and children.

One workshop per participant and all workshops are offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

Workshop details:

a. OWN your future by OWN Academy (8 Jun 2017, Thursday)

Education is a fundamental aspect of growth particularly during adolescence. But, a confluence of assumptions driving both the education space and adjacent spaces often result in a situation akin to trying to fit a random puzzle piece into the jigsaw puzzle of personal development. Are education systems so focused on channeling learners down pre-set paths and rigid, lockstep progression? At this talk, Natalie Chan, Founder of OWN Academy, offers an alternative solution for the 21st Century with a focus on life skills, connected learning and career life planning of students. She will share about how to empower our children to discover themselves at an early age and succeed in the future workplace.

教育是成長的一個基石，在青少年步入成年期間尤其重要。當青少年在努力摸索個人發展路向時往往會遇上很多障礙和盲點，當他們面對前途問題時容易感到缺乏，一切急速的變化都會令他們感到無所適從。究竟現行的教育制度會否過於專注於將青少年引向預先設定的路徑和已鎖定的進程呢？在這次演講中，OWN學院創始人Natalie Chan會跟大家分享不同的教育方案，專注於探討生活技能，從而擴闊學生對不同行業的眼界及早根據自身條件做出適切的職業生涯規劃，並在未來的工作中取得成功。

b. Origami Workshop by Crafties (10-11 Jun 2017 Saturday-Sunday)

The word origami comes from ori (folding) and kami (paper). Origami usually begins with a square sheet of paper and involves many folding techniques to create a variety of shapes. Taught by teachers from Crafties, participants will get to learn how to make several animals.

Origami摺紙原自「ori 」( 即「摺疊」及「kami」（即日語「紙」）。摺紙是摺或疊紙張的藝術，一般而言由正方形的紙張摺成，把紙張摺出各種特定的形狀和花樣摺紙設計。由Crafties的專業摺紙導師教授，這工作坊將啟發參加者的藝術潛能與幾何的概念，學員將學曉如何摺出多款別具意義的漂亮小動物形體。

c. ‘Gift of Writing’ Creative Workshop by Kid’s Gallery (10-11 Jun 2017 Saturday-Sunday)

Kids are welcome to join this creative workshop where they can enjoy a storytelling session based on well-known children's classics, and explore with an array of materials to design and create their own artworks. Illustrations of favorite book titles, characters, scenes, inspiring words and phrases, and personal reflections will be created to produce 3D art installation. These interactive workshops will open a world of stories for children, and allow them to express themselves in forms of writing, illustration, and art.

孩子們於這個充滿創意的工作坊故事環節中可以認識到多個來自世界各國各地的著名童話故事，並一起運用想像力製作出自己的藝術品。描述你最喜愛的書、角色、場景、甚至是別具意義的單詞和句子，畫出插圖表達個人的感想，共同創造3-D藝術裝置。閱讀及聆聽故事對孩子識字十分有用，同時亦可啟發孩子的幻想力。此工作坊將孩子帶到一個故事的世界，讓孩子們以寫作、插圖和藝術的方式表達個人的情感。
