Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is an internationally accredited training that provides youth-facing lay people with practical guidelines and protocols to manage youth mental health symptoms and crises. There will be role-plays and group discussions for practices. Participants will be awarded a certificate upon 100% attendance.


This Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) standard course will cover:

Basic knowledge of common mental health problems in our youth population and related crisis situations

  • Depression
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Eating disorders
  • Substance misuse
  • Psychosis

What you can provide as a lay person and when to seek professional help

MHFA Action Plans (e.g. assessing, active listening, and referring out for professional support)

Intervening and managing mental health emergencies as a first responder

  • Suicide
  • Self harm
  • Addiction

Identify the resources available in the local community

*Participants will also receive a free entry to our upcoming Online mental health 101 session on 13 Sep 2024.


Completion of this YMHFA training will lead to being internationally certified in YMHFA. Those who attend and complete all sessions on 14 & 15 Sep will be certified. The sessions will run between 9:30am and 5:30pm. Refreshments will not be provided, but are available for purchase in the building.
