Event description

Description

Microsoft and Docker have partnered together to bring the agility, portability and security benefits of the Docker platform beyond the Linux ecosystem to Windows developers and IT pros. With the launch of Docker for Windows Server and the upcoming release of Docker Enterprise Edition 17.06, Windows workloads can now benefit from container management and security using the same operating model as Linux workloads.

Docker Enterprise Edition uniquely addresses enterprise Linux distributions for x86, IBM mainframe and Windows Server 2016 systems. IT professionals can deploy hybrid clusters comprised of both Windows and Linux hosts, giving operators a single platform for managing a diverse range of applications. In this hands-on workshop, we'll build a multi-OS Docker EE cluster and then use features like constraints and affinities to place Windows, Linux and hybrid workloads appropriately. Thanks to Docker integration across Microsoft developer tools, operating systems and cloud, you can seamlessly take any app from development to implementation.

Agenda

  • Docker Enterprise Edition (EE) Overview and Value of Containers
  • Deploying and running mixed Windows and Linux applications
  • Modernizing traditional apps with Azure and Docker EE

Our guest speaker David Yu, Partner Solution Engineer from Docker will take you through the agenda on the day. Attendees who wish to try the hands-on tutorials will be provided with a set of cloud instances on which to work – all you need to bring is a laptop with SSH and RDP clients.
