Dermot is a global sustainable development leader with 25 years’ experience in envisioning, ideating, and implementing solutions to protect wildlife, the environment and people. He holds board positions with the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID), the Luc Hoffmann Institute, is the Chair of the social venture OpenSC, and has been a CEO at WWF for two decades across China, the Pacific and Australia.

As a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Stanford University’s Digital Civil Society Lab in 2022, he is exploring the intersection of digital technology, civil society, and big philanthropy and how it’s fundamentally changing the charity sector. His experience in blockchain and NFTs has helped shape this thinking about the role technology can play in delivering solutions at scale.

Dermot’s approach brings together his experience in human development, environmentalism, social justice, philanthropy, private equity, and innovation as he continues to collaborate across sectors to help people, governments and NGOs see global challenges as opportunities to co-create a better future for humanity and nature.
