 Event Overview

Mediation is one of the hot issues in the Hog Kong construction industry in the last decade. It was initially promoted and adopted by the HKSAR, mediation is nowadays attempting in resolving a lot of disputes in the public and private sector of the Hong Kong construction industry, in a speedy and economical way.

 

In this seminar, Ludwig Hon, an accredited mediator under HKMAAL/HKIAC; and mediator under HKIA/HKIS; HKIArb and HKWLMC, acted as mediator for 6 cases since accredited (5 construction cases and 1 Lehman case); in liaison with an experienced and prominent mediator in Hong Kong – Ms Cindy Fong, are going to discuss some issues in relation to mediation.

 

We shall discuss definition, objectives, types, advantages and disadvantages, process and stages, problems, etc. in mediation, as well as mediation in Hong Kong, roles of a mediator in dispute resolution, and finally how to become an accredited mediator.

 

On completion of this CPD, attendees may know more about mediation, both in principle, definition, types, process and stages, advantages, problems, etc. of mediation, as well as the history, development and latest status of mediation in Hog Kong, roles of a mediator.

 

They may also be interested in pursuing to be a mediator in the short future, by relevant courses and examinations.

Ms Cindy Fong

Ms. Cindy Fong has been working as a Mediation Consultant at the JMHO since 2010. She is a Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL) Accredited Mediator (both General and Family), a member of Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) Panel of Accredited General Mediators, a member of the Lands Tribunal Panel List of Mediators for Building Management cases and a member of the Financial Dispute Resolution Centre (FDRC) Panel List of Mediators.  

Cindy is also a HKMAAL Accredited Assessor and she also coaches for many mediation training courses.   She was being appointed as a Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications Specialist, panel member for the validation of Advanced Mediation Training 2011-2017.  

Cindy is currently a member of both the General & Commercial Mediation Interest Groups of Hong Kong Mediation Council. She actively participates in different promotional events of Mediation in Hong Kong acting as a speaker and/ or supporter for various mediation seminars with the group.
