Matcha & Japanese Tea Film Screening

We are so delighted to be presenting this tea + film event in an in-person setting at the wonderful playground.work co-working space. This event will comprise two parts.

Part 1 (15:00-15:30): Japanese tea introduction and Matcha whisking by Ms. Yuki Futami (Ochadozo.com). We start with a brief introduction of how different kinds of Japanese tea (Sencha, Gyokuro, Hojicha, Tencha/Matcha) are made. Each guest will then whisk and drink a bowl of Matcha together with Okashi (Japanese sweets).

Part 2 (15:30-16:30): We will watch "Gochiso Chaji - A Film About Japanese Tea" by Makoto Takatsu (2021, 52 minutes, Japanese with English subtitles), a documentary film which tells stories of tea growers, blenders, retailers, tea shop owners, and others involved in Japanese tea, how they became passionate about what they do, and the opportunities and challenges they face. From real voices of Japanese tea practitioners.

About Yuki: Ms. Yuki Futami, a Japanese who lives in Hong Kong, has been practicing the Japanese way of tea (Chado) in the past 14 years and is certified by the Nihoncha Instructor Association (Japan) as a tea instructor. Since 2017, Yuki has been invited to perform tea demonstrations at corporate and public events in Hong Kong (see web links below). Yuki wishes to share the unique Japanese tea cultural experience with participants in fun and interactive events.
