About Sophia & Hanson Robotics

Put your creativity to a test and join an exhilarating event where you’ll be tasked to hack into Sophia the Robot, the most advanced humanoid robot created by Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics.

Participants, navigated by a team of tech mentors from Hanson Robotics, MakerBay and HKU HackSoc, will attempt to craft a particular response to a problem, come up with an idea how to use AI to help the world and use both engineering and artistic design in their solutions developing on the virtual Sophia platform to create output in form of voice, gesture, and contextual interactions.

The first robot Innovation Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme who has been invited to appear at events in more than 60 countries, has met many heads of state and celebrities, including a date with Will Smith and singing her first duet on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Hanson Robotics’ most advanced human-like robot, Sophia, personifies dreams for the future of AI. As a unique combination of science, engineering, and artistry, Sophia is simultaneously a human-crafted science fiction character depicting the future of AI and robotics, and a platform for advanced robotics and AI research, particularly for understanding human-robot interactions and their potential service and entertainment applications.
