Maitreyi Karanth is a Hong Kong-based, multifaceted talent known for her work as a philanthropist, actor, producer, poet and late-blooming comedian.
Starting her chapter as a stand-up comedian at the age of 44, she has sold out 10 solo shows and is recognised as a pioneering comedian in the city’s comedy scene. She has opened for internationally recognised acts such as Tom Cotter, Gina Yashere, and Atul Khatri. Last September, with their show ‘Daughter from Another Otter’, Maitreyi made her Australian debut at the Factory Theatre in Sydney, performing alongside fellow comedian Annie Louey as part of the Sydney Fringe Program.
Fueled by the challenges faced on the road to the big stage & inspired by her Australian adventure, Maitreyi is ready to carve out a name for herself with her first big solo theatre production at the Hong Kong Art Centre!

YOUR EMCEE - VIVEK MAHBUBANI
Born & raised in Hong Kong and fully bilingual, Vivek is one of the city’s renowned stand-up comedians and emcees. Having received several titles, accolades and acknowledgements since winning "Hong Kong Funniest Person of the Year," which launched his career as a full-time stand-up comedian. Since then, he has taken his sense of humour all over Asia, including Hong Kong, China, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Manila, Bangkok, Sri Lanka and India.

Mohammed has been performing stand-up comedy since 2013 and has performed in more than 15 countries worldwide, including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Currently based in Hong Kong, he is Backstage Comedy’s producer, emcee and co-host of Ho Ho Hong Kong, the city’s highest-rated and longest-running English comedy podcast.
Ryan Hynek
Originally from Chicago, Ryan Hynek is a teacher by day and a stand-up comedian by night. A former finalist of the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition back in the days, Ryan has been honing his craft for more than 10 years while living in Hong Kong, performing at venues around the city, Macau, the Philippines, Indonesia and beyond.
