APAC HR industry leaders virtual lunch and learn discussing the future of fintech talent development

About this event

The FinTech industry has been identified as one of the players rapidly growing at the post- COVID-19 economic recovery. And while the west has been the banking industry leader, Asia is now taking the leads when it comes to Fintech with Hong Kong and Singapore being the hubs.

Consequently, fintech talent is in high demand in the two competing cities. Professionals in this space are required to keep up with the highly innovative environment, and require strong relevant technical skills with the ability to apply all of them to their financial industry needs.

Building strategy to both attract and retain quality fintech professionals has become the focus of firms. To add to this, training individuals in this highly specialized and ever-changing tech space has also become a challenge.

Our Panelists:

Sehr Ahmed

She has held HR leadership roles across Asia Pacific for ABN AMRO Bank, AIG, McDonalds and globally for IFM Investors. What sets her apart is her distinct commercial focus having started her career as a Corporate Banker and later transitioned into Human Resources.

Sehr Ahmed is currently the CHRO of Mercer Asia, Founder and CEO of Executive Edge, and Non-Executive Board Member of Xccelerate. Sehr brings a global perspective, cultural savvy and multi-industry experience in leading change and transformation for global businesses.

Sehr has an MBA in Corporate Finance from the Edinburgh Business School where she was a Commonwealth Scholar. Prior to that, she graduated as a Wien Scholar from Brandeis University with a BA in Economics. She is also a graduate of the AICD's International Company Director Course and a certified Executive Coach from the Institute of Executive Coaching in Australia.

Derek Kenny

Derek is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Cornerstone Global Partner, Enterprise Solution in Hong Kong. He has worked in the fields of HR and recruitment for over 20 years.

To date, he has worked in recruitment in Australia, parts of the Middle East, Ireland and Hong Kong. His current venture, Cornerstone Global Partners (CGP) has has become one of the largest recruitment solutions firms in Asia with 500+ team members delivering executive search, recruitment process outsourcing and contracting services to multi-national and domestic firms.

The firm operates 9 offices in Mainland China and has offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and the United States.

Andy Lee

Andy Lee has over 25 years of startup and corporate management experience across China, Asia Pacific and international markets. He is currently based in Hong Kong where he serves as Co-Founder of Sprout, a stakeholder and ESOP management SaaS business.

He was previously based in Mainland China for 20 years where he most recently led regional business and corporate development and international expansion for companies including Uber, Softbank-invested Mapbox and Silicon Valley game maker Kabam.

Before that, he also led digital operations and business development at NBA China and STAR TV / News Corporation. Andy began his career as an technology investment banker and venture investor and is a graduate of UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
