About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

The Greater Bay Area (GBA) presents significant opportunities for businesses for social and economic development. To make the most of these opportunities, business leaders and policymakers need to understand the dynamics of the labour market in the region, including the factors that influence labour migration, the sectors in which labour migrants work, and the challenges they face.

The Labour Migration at the GBA is a HKUST research project that aims to understand the mechanism of labour migration and the distribution of human capital among GBA cities such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Hong Kong. The project will generate key indicators on employment, migration, and family in these four surveyed cities.

In this event, Prof Stuart Gietel-Basten, lead of the project, and Jeff Tang, expert in human capital at EY, will share their insights into the region's labour market dynamics, which will be crucial to the region's social and economic development in the coming decades.

This event is part of the HKUST IEMS-EY Emerging Markets Insights series. It is organised by HKUST IEMS with support from EY.
