Kids can bake!!

With all the successful bakes with adults, we are now opening our doors to children's sourdough classes.

Learn about bread and fermentation with Shima.

After the 5-day course of constant baking everyday, we trust your child will gain baking techniques and build confidence for baking.

We will be baking a different type of bread every day and you will bring it home to share with your family.

At the end of the course you will receive a sourdough starter of your own and a certificate to prove your completion of the course!

WHAT IS SOURDOUGH BREAD?

Sourdough bread making traces back to the ancient art of artisan bread making that uses 3 basic ingredients, ie flour + water + salt and time for fermentation. All other additive/unnatural ingredients that commercially produced bread include are eliminated.

Sourdough bread is healthy, gentle to the digestive system, and delicious; and the crumb texture gives a satisfying mouth feeling.

- How to make a traditional sourdough bread – hands on

- How to refresh and feed your sourdough starter

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN? (Day 2)

- How to make a sourdough bread with mixed flours and added nuts/seeds/dried fruits – hands on

- How to refresh and feed your sourdough starter

- Understand how sourdough behaves at each stage of bread making

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN? (Day 3)

- How to make a sourdough cinnamon rolls – hands on

- How to refresh and feed your sourdough starter

- Understand how to adjust the baking time and temperature according to the ingredients used in the bake.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN? (Day 4)

- How to make a sourdough focaccia – hands on

- How to refresh and feed your sourdough starter

- Understand how to handle higher hydration dough

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN? (Day 5)

- How to make a sourdough pizza – hands on

- How to refresh and feed your sourdough starter

- Understand how to bake a sourdough pizza

WHAT WILL YOU TAKE HOME?

- Breads you make in class

-Recipes

- A jar of sourdough mother starter (at the end of the course)

- The essential knowledge you need to bake your own homemade artisan sourdough bread.

- A certificate when you complete the course

Length of Class: 1.5 Hours

PLEASE ATTEND WITH A CAREGIVER

This class is suitable for children of the age of 7 to 16 years old.

Children under the age of 7 must attend with either a parent of a caregiver.

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY

We will confirm your seat(s) once all fees are received. Deadline for any cancellation or changes(eg. rescheduling) is 7 days prior to the scheduled date of the event. All fees will become non-refundable after the deadline. Cancellation requests should be made in writing at least 7 days prior to the class for any refund to be processed.
