This inaugural lecture will take place on 3 October at the Hong Kong Science Museum at 6.30pm and will open the 2025 edition of the Fête de la Science.
How do animals perceive their environment, make decisions or cooperate with each other? Do different species have different forms of intelligence? This inaugural conference brings together three researchers to explore the many forms of intelligence in the animal world.
Professor Guénard (University of Hong Kong), a specialist in insect societies and behavioural ecology, and Professor Wing Ho Yung (City University of Hong Kong), an expert in animal cognition, will share their perspectives on the adaptation, communication and cooperation strategies observed in different species. The discussion will be moderated by Professor Christophe Coupé (University of Hong Kong), a researcher in bioacoustics and language sciences.
This interdisciplinary conference is open to anyone interested in the links between intelligence, behaviour and evolution. Together, our speakers will offer a cross-disciplinary look at the intelligences of living organisms, inviting us to rethink our relationship with other forms of life.
