Eighth Centenary of the Canticle of Creatures by St Francis
2025, as Jubilee of the Church, is also the eight centenary of St Francis’ writing Canticle of Creatures. We are inviting several local church composers who would write new renditions in Cantonese as inspired by the saint eight hundred years ago.
Each composer is invited to write a new setting for the whole canticle (10 min) or write a song or a chant based on one of the eight paragraphs of the Canticle.
We hope each composer is mindful of the following as a starting point on which to elaborate.
• The Canticle is essentially a prayer, addressed to God directly.
• The elements: the sun, the moon, wind, fire, water, earth, and death are referred as brother/ sister.
• How St Francis describes these elements as he has observed, experienced and reflected upon.

聖詠講座4：造物讚800

慶祝聖方濟《造物讚》八百週年
2025 年是教會的禧年，也是慶祝聖方濟撰寫《造物讚》八世紀。我們邀請了幾位當地教會作曲家，他們將受到八百年前聖人的啟發，用粵語創作新的版本。
邀請每位作曲家為整首頌歌（10 分鐘）寫一個新的旋律，或根據《造物讚》內八個段落之一創作一首歌曲或短誦。
希望每位作曲家都能牢記以下內容，並以此作為詳細發揮的起點。
• 《造物讚》本質上是一種直接向上帝發出的禱告。
• 元素：太陽、月亮、風、火、水、地和死亡被稱為兄弟/姊妹。
• 聖方濟如何描述他所觀察、經歷和思考的這些元素。
