Learn how to handle difficult conversations & plan your approach when engaging with young people. Suitable for teachers (online)

About this event

The course will teach you. The Mental Health continuum, how to plan your approach & engage with young people, what to say & to avoid & discuss options, and how to handle difficulties in the conversation. It also involves learning how to approach conversations with parents about their child’s mental health & work in partnership for the best interests of their child through empathy & understanding. You will practice and observe using the skills in small groups using scenarios. There is also an opportunity to discuss the challenges that you may face.

The course is designed for staff who want to learn some skills to empower themselves & the young people they work with. Suitable for staff with pastoral responsibilities, Higher Education counsellors & other interested parties.
