Description
Equal Pay Day is a BPW International initiative in which BPW Hong Kong participates annually. With a current 16.7% gender disparity in Hong Kong, this amounts to women working for no pay from the start of the year until 02 March! To bring awareness to the issue of gender pay discrimination, this year's event will include focus groups in 3 locations. Each group, under the guidance of a BPW-HK member as facilitator and another as secretary, will discuss a set of 6 questions; following this event, the results of each group will be compiled into a report and be delivered by BPW-HK to the Women's Commission of Hong Kong. EPD Project Leader: BPW-HK member Sindy Leung.
.
To 'celebrate' our having once again gone from 'being in the red' [i.e., income deficit] to 'being in the black' [i.e., earning income], we ask participants to wear a combination of red and black! Upon arrival, look for the red-and-black table.
.
This event is being held in 3 locations for convenience and will take place in a cafe setting, comparable to that of Philosophy Cafe and other such events. Upon your registration, the Project Leader will email venue information to you. There is no fee beyond paying for your own food/drinks.
.
Open to the Public: Must be over age 18 to participate; men as well as women are welcome to attend. Capacity: 20 per venue.
