Event description

Description

Beginning 2019 with a rather unique and seasonal event, we'll be hiking through Tai Lam Country Park, the second largest country park in HK. This famous trail gives vistas of lush green plantations and Tai Lam Chung Reservoir, introducing you to the wonderful world of forest ecology.

HIGHLIGHTS: Sweet gum woods; Ho Pui Reservoir.
The leaves on the sweet gum trees change colour to different shades of green, orange, and red and the sight is breathtaking! Late December to mid-January is the peak season and is quite popular amongst photographers and Instagrammers.
Ho Pui Reservoir was awarded one of the 10 best natural scenery in country parks.

The hike is of moderate difficulty due to it's length (8.5 Km) and duration (approx. 4 hours) with max elevation about 200m.
Around half of the route is paved, however, some of the sections on the unpaved route have not been completely restored after the typhoon, but is passable with proper care.

COST: The bus from MTR station to the start point costs 4.7$ (free if interchanged within 60 mins of exiting the MTR station) and the return mini-bus to Yuen Long costs 8$, where we would be getting food to celebrate the end of our hike!
