Healthy Shoulders with Annie

Sunday 11th February 2018 • 2-4PM


How much weight do we carry on our shoulders? From the daily grind of lugging and toting our personal belongings, to the invisible stress of physical activity, postural habits and patterns, — it’s about time we take good care of our shoulders.

This workshop covers basic shoulder anatomy as we dive into self myofascial release for the shoulders to increase range of motion, followed with dynamic stretching to create a mindful connection between breath and movement. By learning to stabilise the shoulder joint through proper alignment, you are enabling a great transformation in your body for a sustainable long-term yoga practice.


WHO this workshop is for:

Have you felt confused when a teacher says scapula in class? Do you know where your traps are? lats? Or clavicle? This workshop is open to all and great for those:

  1. New to yoga
  2. Practice yoga regularly and want to expand their anatomy knowledge
  3. Have sore/tight shoulders or a stiff neck
  4. Athletes/fitness enthusiasts who undergo high impact and repetitive movements.


WHAT you will bring home from this workshop:

  • Understand basic shoulder anatomy
  • Awareness of daily posture and how to improve postural habits
  • Relieve sore, tender or tight shoulders and neck
  • How to activate the shoulder muscles during yoga

About Annie:

In the blink of an eye, it has been three and a half years since I moved to Hong Kong and became a full-time yoga teacher. As the journey began, my daily self-practice on top of teaching and running around created unanticipated physical stress. The lack of rest caused me a long period of chronic stiffness and unknown shoulder soreness.

Through studying with Tiffany Cruikshank of Yoga Medicine over the last 2 years, I have increased my knowledge in anatomy and biomechanics. From the Advanced Teacher Training in Orthopaedic studies (Spine and Shoulder) to Yoga for Athletes, I was able to heal my shoulder problem. I patiently strengthened my upper body and successfully staved off that old, recurring pain.

Thanks to the major influence of my inspiring teacher I shifted my focus of practicing and teaching yoga as a therapeutic tool, both physically and mindfully. I am absolutely grateful to share all this precious knowledge and technique with everyone, and see healthy improvement in both your yoga journey and well-being.
