Whether you’re dreaming of building an earthen oven, a garden bench, or a whole home—this is the perfect place to start. We’ll guide you through the entire process, from soil testing and straw cutting to dancing in the mud and moulding your very own bricks.
What You’ll Learn:
- The basics of earth building and its environmental and cultural value
- How to test and analyze local soil
- How to mix the ideal blend of clay, sand, water, and straw
- Traditional adobe mixing techniques (yes, you’ll use your feet!)
- How to mould and form bricks for real use
- Special extra: An introduction to treating bamboo for use in Hong Kong’s humid climate – so it won’t rot or get eaten!
