Event description

Description

We are thrilled to be hosting in Hong Kong the Global Interfaith Network for People of All Sexes, Sexual Orientations, Gender Identities and Expressions, AKA GIN-SSOGIE.

Join us for a lively and engaging evening comprised of queer short films and hear from a mammoth line-up of some of Asia-Pacific's most respected faith and spiritual leaders. Tickets are extremely limited to foster an intimate atmosphere.

This event is part of the 2018 Asia-Pacific Rainbow Families Forum being held during the days of May 11-12th. For more see this Eventbrite registration link:

There will be a number of Asia-Pacific Queer short films being shown. We will be curating a special International Premiere of the multi-award winning Tongan Short Film 'Lady Eva', as well as a clip from soon to be released 'Leitis in Waiting. These are aid our friends in Tonga, The Tonga Leitis Association who have been left decimated after several cyclones in the Pacific.

Tropical Cyclone Gita, the worst storm to hit the South Pacific in 60 years, slammed into Tonga on February 12, bringing down electricity lines, smashing homes and churches, and leveling fruit trees and crops vital to the nation's livelihood. The Tonga Leitis Association drop-in centre, which serves as a shelter for LGBT youth rejected by their families and communities, suffered severe damage. While international aid agencies have started to respond, such crises render vulnerable gender and sexual minorities invisible and ignored. The Tonga Leitis Association is in urgent need of help to repair the roof that was torn off its centre and to provide emergency supplies and services to its members and their families who lost everything.

All proceeds from the ticket sales will go direct to the Tongan Leitis Community to help rebuild their safe space.
