Georgia - The Original & Modern Day Hub of Natural & Traditionally-Made Wines

Natural winemaking and traditional techniques have sprung into fashion, with increased demand from global wine consumers, leading restaurants, bars and hotels recently. The world’s 1st wine producing country – Georgia – is at the center of this movement, with its 500+ indigenous varieties, and unique “qvevri” wines, gaining fans from Bordeaux to New York, London to Sydney and across the wine drinking world.

Explore the origins of Georgian winemaking, the technicalities of qvevri and natural “amber” wines, including the unique effect of “qvevri” clay vessel fermentation. Learn about the general history and culture of winemaking in Georgia, taste a cross section of the top premium wines – from both modern wineries, and small batch, handcrafted “qvevri” wines, along with traditional Georgian grape spirits. With Georgian wine experiencing exponential growth in China right now, this the perfect chance to get up to date on what Macau’s many Chinese tourists may be interested in.

Debra Meiburg, Master of Wine will guide you through with her technical knowledge and significant first-hand experience in Georgia, as well as offering a commercial and practical perspective, a Greater China market snapshot and tips for introducing these “unique” wines.
