What happens during Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) assessment?

Your child will listen to pure tones through headphones and indicate when a sound is heard. This behavioral test allows the softest audible level to be tested, across a range of low, middle and high frequencies that are vital for speech understanding. Most children complete testing in 5-6 minutes.

What should I expect from the hearing screening?

We try make it fun! Results are indicated as normal/abnormal. Hearing loss levels are indicated as mild to profound degree. If there is a need for follow-up, this will be indicated in the report. Reports will be given back to the school for distribution on the same day.

Question 3

What happens if my child fails the screening?

Accepted Answer

We recommend doing a follow-up at clinic to understand what is impacting your child's hearing. There are circumstances that may lead to failed results that can be medically reversed or managed. In case your child would like assistance from ENT Centre, we are conveniently located in Central.

Question 4

What if my child is unwell on the day of testing and cannot attend?

Accepted Answer

Don't worry! We will work with the school to see if we can come for another visit. In case this cannot be arranged, your child can complete his/her testing at our clinic by a set date. We recommend waiting a minimum of 2 weeks after symptoms have passed before testing.

Question 5

Will I receive a confirmation after I register?

Accepted Answer

A confirmation email from the Eventbrite system will be sent to the registered email account after registration is successfully complete. If you would like a clinic issued receipt, kindly please select this option during the registration process.
