Engineers Australia HK: Get Ready to Adjudicate

On 28 Aug 2025, Construction Industry Security of Payment Ordinance (Cap. 652) has come into full operation for mandatory adjudication in Hong Kong construction, which ensures swift dispute resolution, enhancing efficiency and fairness in projects.

The seminar will cover the legal framework and principle of adjudication in Hong Kong and Australia; and how adjudication enhances efficiency and fairness in construction projects. It allows EA members in the industry to gain the most updated knowledge, and also practical steps for implementing adjudication to resolve dispute swiftly.

Hao WU, Construction Lawyer

Hao is an engineer-turned-lawyer, who specializes in construction dispute in the fields of construction, infrastructure and energy.

Hao has experience in advising PRC, Hong Kong and multinational companies, with a particular focus in construction. He has acted for employers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, engineering consultancy firms and architecture firms in both contentious and non-contentious sides of construction matters, including arbitrations, claims preparations, construction contract review and drafting, project execution, etc.

Hao will be joined by John Lau, Senior Engineer

John is a Chartered Civil & Structural Engineer, and a Chartered Surveyor with over two decades of experience in construction sector. He holds a Bachelor degree in law and two Masters’ degrees in Law and is active in construction dispute resolution matters. He is an independent arbitrator, adjudicator and mediator on the panels of various leading alternative dispute resolution bodies in Asia. He is also a HKIE Senior Adjudicator for Construction Industry Security of Payment (CISPO) Cap. 652. He holds Fellowships with the Chartered Institution of Arbitrators, the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Engineers Australia, and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
