Dogs bark, cats meow, humans vocalize.

Our voice is intrinsic to our humanity, yet many of us today feel estranged from our voice. Perhaps we were silenced. Perhaps we are swept up in the highly visual nature of our times. Whatever the cause, in losing our innate connection with our voice, we lose a part of ourselves. In yoga, to voice is to bring into being. The name of the creator god, Brahma, comes from the Sanskrit root brh, “to speak.” Brahma’s daughter, Saraswati, embodies the power of music and song, and the goddess Vak brings the world into being thru word. In yoga, voice is life itself. Come share a gentle morning of discussion and simple practices to re-connect us to our voice. Learn how to create vocal resonance, presence, and ease. Leave loving your voice as a deeply personal expression of your whole and subtle self — unique as your fingerprint, and infinitely more powerful!

July WS === Embodied Listening.

Spiritual traditions around the world call on silence and deep listening as a path to inner peace and profound insight. But how does one listen deeply? To fully listen involves more than our ears. When we practice deep listening, we listen with every fiber of our being. Deep listening is a full body experience.

The original hatha yogis of medieval India practiced deep listening — or naada yoga — as the final step in reaching their goal of Realization. Powerful then, naada yoga may have even more to offer us now in our noisy, distracted 21stcentury lives.

In this relaxing workshop you will learn foundational yogic principles concerning sound (including the significance and usage of OM), and be skillfully led through guided sound meditations from the hatha yoga tradition. Return home having experienced for yourself how embodied listening can bring depth and clarity to your yoga and your life. No experience necessary.

Ann Dyer has taught yoga, specializing in yogic sound practices, since 1995. She is Yoga Alliance certified E-RYT 500, has been on the faculty of numerous advanced studies programs, and has taught at Yoga Journal conferences across the country. Ann has enjoyed a career as a professional vocalist for several decades, and her work in yogic sound is called upon in both yoga and contemporary performing arts circles. ６月開催 Embodied Voice 自分の声を体現する

犬は吠える、猫は鳴く、人は声をだす。

声は、人間にとって本質的なものであるにもかかわらず、現代の私たちの多くは自分の声を好ましく思っていません。現代人の多くは、声を封じられてしまったのか、あるいは視覚化された時代に流されてしまったのでしょうか。自分の声との本来のつながりを失うことは、自分自身の一部を失うことになります。

ヨガでは、「声をだす」＝「存在する」ことを意味します。 創造神であるブラフマーの名前は、サンスクリット語の ”brh”（話す）に由来しています。ブラフマーの娘であるサラスワティは、音楽や歌の力を体現し、女神ヴァクは言葉によって世界を実現します。 ヨガでは、声は生命そのものなのです。

声を共鳴させ、存在感を体現し、安らぎを生み出す方法を学びます。 あなたの声は、あなたの全体的で繊細な自己の深い個人的な表現であり、あなたの指紋のようにユニークで、無限なちからを持っていることを体感していただけるでしょう。

７月開催 Embodied Listening 全身で自分の声を聴く

世界中のスピリチュアルな伝統は、内なる平和と深い洞察への道として、沈黙と深い傾聴を求めています。 しかし、どうすれば深く聴くことができるのでしょうか？

深く聞くためには、耳だけでは不十分です。 深く聞くことを実践するとき、私たちは全身を使って聞くことになります。深い聴き取りは全身で行うものなのです。

中世インド、古代のハタヨギたちは、悟りをひらくための最終段階として、深い聴き取り、つまりNaada Yogaを実践していました。音のヨガは、騒がしくて気が散漫になりがちな21世紀の私たちに、さらに大きな力を与えてくれるかもしれません。

リラックスした雰囲気のなか行うこのワークショップでは、サウンドヨガの基本原則を学び、ハタヨガの伝統的なガイド付きサウンド・メディテーションをご紹介します。自分の声を聴くことで、ヨガや人生にどれほどの深みと明瞭さがもたらされるか、ぜひご自身で体験してみてください。
