LOOKING UP: BRIGHTER FUTURES, TOGETHER

Down Syndrome Symposium 2025. Navigating the Early Years

Join us for the first in a new series of symposiums exploring and celebrating the early-years journey of individuals with Down Syndrome and their families in Hong Kong SAR.

The GAP: Hong Kong has a range of resources for the Down syndrome community, but these are not always easy to find.

The FIX: This symposium series seeks to build for a collaborative ecosystem. This inaugural 2025 symposium will address the early years; the second symposium will centre around ages 6-18 and the third symposium will encompass adulthood.

The GOAL: Our aim is to consolidate resources, information and community access in a shared, online space, so individuals with Down syndrome and their families have a sense of purpose and belonging in their journey.

WHY ATTEND?

Be Inspired! : Connect with the Down Syndrome community, including families and the professionals who support them.

Learn! : Understand Down Syndrome: What it is and what it means for the community.

Gain Expert Insights! : Hear from medical and education experts who support the first few years from diagnosis.

ABOUT THE ORGANISER :

A Little Bit Extra is a Hong Kong charity (Licence: 91/18222) established in 2022. Our mission is to empower individuals with Down syndrome and the families that support them with resources in health, therapy, education, and career opportunities.

We are focusing our efforts on two key areas:

The Individual: We aim to support individuals with Down syndrome from diagnosis through adulthood. This includes providing essential resources through a comprehensive directory of doctors, private clinics, therapists, inclusive schools, and career opportunities.

The Community: With over 3,000 individuals with Down syndrome in Hong Kong, and only 952 members currently with the Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association (HKDSA), we are committed to reaching the remaining 2,000+ individuals. Our goal is to ensure they are connected, supported, and feel a sense of belonging within our community.
