About this event

Journalling - or Journal Keeping - is a way of spontaneously documenting the flow of your life. This presents opportunities for reflection and self-exploration in a safe and private space.

"A doodle a day or a thought written down, with a dated page, is a form of Self Witnessing."

We will be working with the theme of journal keeping as this allow us to be more authentic and intrinsically motivated in how we express ourselves.

During these drop in sessions I will provide a mixture of art and creative writing acitivites for us to explore as a group..

Each session will begin with a group check in, where we say Hi,who we are, how we feel... this a grounding exercise which is important in building the dynamic during a drop in session.

NO PREVIOUS ART EXPERIENCE OR SKILL is nesseccary, the focus is on PROCESS and not PRODUCT!

From your creativity there will be opportunities to reflect and, as a group, find deeper meanings within your journalling. Sharing information is entirely up to the individual but the sessions will be fully confidential.

A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SESSIONS AND FACILLITATOR

I have completed two years training in Therapeutic Arts and my particular interest is working in female powerd spaces to encourage freedom of expression and to provide group empowerment.

You don't need to be a writer or artist ( I'm not!) we can all appreciate and enjoy an opportunity to explore our creative side.

All that's needed is pen and paper though feel free to bring crayons or other materials too, if you wish.

SAFEGUARDING OF SESSIONS..

Please be aware this is NOT art therapy, i encourage a hosltic practice in that anyone who joins the sessions must make sure they are in a private space and that all information shared remains confidential.

These sessions are open, and more of a support group where we explore; meditation, grounding techniques, creative writing and mark-making..

FEEDBACK FROM PREVIOUS SESSIONS.....

"Thanks Lily, - That was a really calm colourful experience. Love your tunes."

"I think the current session structure has a good balance of self-work and sharing"

"It's always fascinating for me to see how the same "instruction" about an activity is perceived differently by the participants and leads to totally different ways of expressions. Each personality really stands out during the show and tell session."

RESEARCH THAT HAS INFORMED THESE SESSIONS.

'Journals play an important role in women’s lives by helping them regain their voice. Journals have enabled women to reflect on the past, present, and future and have helped them envision new or expanded possibilities. As such, journals can enhance the learning experience. Adult education relies on practitioners and students who can engage in dreaming, visioning, and reflection. Creating room for journal writing becomes an important com- ponent of any adult education program.'

'Women’s journals are a unique treasure that provide a glimpse into the lives of individuals whose voices other- wise would not have been heard. Journals continue to be a source of inspiration and revelation for the women who write them and those who read them.'
