Event overview

This course is designed to provide you with examples of questions and scenarios that assessors will use when reviewing this key competency. You will have lots of opportunity to ask questions and seek advice on your own experiences in this competency.

We will look at Rules of Conduct and Money Laundering and will briefly summarise the key aspects of the Bribery Act 2010 and part two will focus on Professional and Ethical standards.




Learning Outcomes

• Provide real life examples of the compliance with one of the nine rules for members is achieved that will then be assessed and commented on by the presenter
• Provide real life examples of the compliance with one of the fifteen rules for firms is achieved that will then be assessed and commented on by the presenter
• Be able to explain, with the use of examples how, to comply with money laundering regulations
• Be able to explain, with the use of examples how, to comply with the Bribery Act
• Provide real life examples of the five Professional and Ethical standards that will then be assessed and commented on by the presenter
• Provide examples of potential conflicts of interest and how to avoid/deal with them, these will then be assessed by the presenter
• Explain the main requirements of how to set up a RICS regulated company Know how to present and describe Conduct Rules Ethics and Professional Practice competency experience in the requisite APC templates and successfully answer mock questions posed by the presenter



Programme Structure

During the day you will look at the 5 professional and ethical standards that underpin RICS members' behaviour and how they are related to RICS's regulatory framework. Through review of case study scenarios and relevant ethical ‘situations’ you will have the opportunity to consider different ethical questions whilst considering the impact on the 5 professional and ethical standards and how they relate to you and your business.

About the Trainer

Mr. Gary Man FRICS
Managing Director of GCA Asset Services Limited

Gary is the Managing Director of Greater China Asset Services, Global Business Valuation Sub-Board Member, Asia Business Valuation Committee Chairman and Asia Valuation Professional Group Member He has more than 30 years experience in valuation and consultancy. He has been engaged in numerous assignments covering the Asia-Pacific region, in particular in countries such as China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and further west to India, Kazakhstan and the Republic of the Maldives.

Gary also has academic experience. He was a visiting lecturer at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) lecturing on Business and Intangible Assets Valuation and other topics. In China, he has given lectures on similar subjects for the ZheJiang University in Hangzhou City. He was also invited to be the External Examiner for the MSc programme in International Real Estate (ZheJiang) for the PolyU.
