Join us to learn how climate change has affected HK's biodiversity

About this Event

Hong Kong’s biodiversity is under severe threat from, amongst other things, habitat destruction due to infrastructure development and illegal damage of sites; over-fishing; pollution; invasive species; and more importantly climate change.

It is now widely recognized that climate change and biodiversity are interconnected. Biodiversity is affected by climate change, with negative consequences for human well-being, but biodiversity, through the ecosystem services it supports, also makes an important contribution to both climate-change mitigation and adaptation. Consequently, conserving and sustainably managing biodiversity is critical to addressing climate change.

In this talk, we’ll look at some of the science behind climate change and its impact on HK’s biodiversity. We’ll discuss some of the current measures to mitigate those changes and what more can be done.
