· Conference Background

The relationship between China and Canada has developed soundly in recent years. Collaboration in economic, trade, energy and resources, education, culture and tourism between the two sides has been steadily developing. With the establishment of the China-Canada trade strategic partnership, China has become Canada's second largest trading partner after the United States, with an annual trade volume of 78 billion U.S. dollars. It is precisely because of this good momentum of cooperation that Canadian enterprises are increasingly valuing the vast market in China, especially the most distinctive industries in Canada such as agricultural products, seafood products and natural health products. Many enterprises have established or are establishing marketing networks in China.

The Canadian government and enterprises have a vision of developing Internet e-commerce. China has made tremendous achievements in the field of e-commerce in recent years. E-commerce sales currently account for 15% of China's retail market and are expected to reach 30% by 2020. It is estimated that China will import 8 trillion U.S. dollars’ worth of goods in the next five years. With the growing number of middle class in China, there is a huge demand for quality products. Selling green and natural Canadian products to China has become a trend in Canada. Consumption upgrade in China has driven more and more enterprises in Canada to supply goods and services to China. It is expected to have a rapid growth in the next decade.
