Taking a practical approach to examining real survey situations in different market bearings, the
course aims to provide professionals with an extensive knowledge in undertaking building condition
survey and servicing clients needs. An analysis in the variety of inspections to identify and remedy
typical defects within construction industry and the most common knowledge gaps found resulting in
incomplete diagnostics for buildings in Hong Kong will also be presented. Various concepts will be
highlighted throughout the day, together with case studies and facilitated group discussions to
stimulate knowledge will be shared among delegates.
Themes include: the common types of building failures; recognition of properties that are reinforced,
concrete, glass, timber or steel; management of risks in site inspections and reporting; and
recognition of professional liability and public liability work.
About the speaker
Mr PF Chan, BSc, MPM, MRICS, MHKIS, MCIOB, MHKIE, FHKICM, AP(S), RI(S) is a Chartered
Building Surveyor with years of experience in building surveying practice for new and existing
buildings. His expertise include inspections to dilapidated buildings to identify defects and
recommendation of remedial measures under applicable legislations.
