Build your own Minecraft pickaxe game controller and learn some STEAM skills!

MakerBay Central

Learn some fundamental Maker/STEAM skills by fabricating, wiring, coding and painting your own custom game controller. In this course each student will get to build their own, fully working to USB HID standards, game controller that will work like a keyboard, mouse, or gamepad with fully customizable inputs. It has buttons, an analog thumbstick, and an accelerometer which let&#x27;s you use tilt as 3 more control axes and even to bind a fast swing as an attack or &quot;mine&quot; action!The circuit is simple enough for beginners to solder themselves (we&#x27;ll teach you to solder as well) and the entire project is designed from the ground up to be based around easy to work with materials and basic tools so you can go on to modify it, or even use your knowledge to make your own, completely custom game controllers at home. From 8yo onwards, no prior knowledge required Schedule includes a 45mn lunch break. You are welcome to bring your own lunch. Wear closed-toe non-slip shoes (no sandals/flip flops). Enrollment:<ul><li>We reserve the right to reschedule the workshop at any time due to the class size of less than a minimum of 3 students per class.</li><li>We reserve the right to change the workshop instructor as deemed necessary. We will not provide prior notice for such arrangements.</li></ul>Cancellations:<ul><li>For workshops cancelled due to unexpected public health warnings or to severe weather conditions (such as Typhoon 8 or above, or Black rainstorm signal), we will do our best to accommodate the majority with makeup classes but with no guarantee. </li><li>Classes will not be cancelled if weather signals for Typhoon 8 or Black Rainstorm are lowered four hours before the scheduled start time of the workshop </li><li>Classes will not be cancelled during AMBER or RED rainstorm signals.</li><li>No refunds will be provided for cancellations outside of our control. </li></ul>Release of liability: By purchasing a ticket for this workshop, the participant and/or their legal guardian agrees: <ul><li>to hold MakerBay Foundation Limited entirely free from any liability, including financial responsibility for personal injuries incurred, regardless of whether injuries are caused by negligence. </li><li>that they are aware of the risks involved in joining the workshop and using the tools. These include but are not limited to burn hazard, soldering fumes, puncture wounds, pinch wounds, spitting flux, skin infection/dermatitis, injury to eye, finger cuts or other injuries and accidents not specified herein, whether or not foreseeable.</li><li>they voluntarily assume all risks with full knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the risks involved. </li><li>that they do not have any conditions that will increase their likelihood of experiencing injuries while engaging in the activity. </li></ul>
