Overview
 
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is bringing significant changes to design, construction and operation over the lifecycle of projects. It is transforming the whole development process from inception, design and construction through to operation and facilities management. Both public and large private developers are increasingly using BIM in their projects or even implement BIM in corporate level.
 This course will support those starting their BIM journey. The course will cover what BIM is, what it means to the industry and the Government’s BIM strategy. It will also set out how to effectively address the BIM challenge from process, people and technology perspectives. Case studies will be used to share the successful experience in the BIM implementation, and how it has been adopted in design, construction and facilities management. The course is designed for quantity surveyors, project managers, architects, civil engineers, contract administrators/managers and purchasing co-ordinators.

The training is designed for those who are starting their BIM journey and would like to have an overview of the BIM concept including implementation strategies, and BIM’s adoption in design and construction. It is also suitable for future project managers or client representatives on BIM-enabled projects who are seeking to develop their BIM Management fundamental knowledge and skills.

Mr. Kelvin Kuo has 20 years of Quantity Surveying and Project Management experience in the construction industry among the discipline of Building, Civil and Interior Design and has over 7 years of BIM project management experience. 
Kelvin has been utilizing the BIM project management experience in projects such as development of the Hong Kong Science Park Phase 3, development of Innovation Centre of the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong. With the professional knowledge and experiences in Quantity Surveying, Kelvin has involved in developing and promoting the integration of BIM services to current QS practices since 2011, he is handling QSBIM projects in public housings and private sectors of Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.
To contribute his professional knowledge to the industry, he has presented CPD/ training to RICS, HKIS, ICES, University of Macau and Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE). He is the BIM Sub-Committee Vice-Chairman of CICES and member of HKIS QSD BIM Sub- Committee.
