Overview

BIM (Building Information Modelling) is bringing significant changes to design, construction and operations over the life-cycle of projects. It has the potential to transform the whole process from inception, design, and construction through to operations and facilities management. Both public and large private developers are increasingly looking for their consultants to be BIM-enabled.

The course will support those starting their BIM journey in the surveying profession. It covers what is BIM, how it achieves collaboration and integration, BIM commercial and contract, ISO19650, and how to effectively address the BIM challenge from process, people and technology perspectives. In addition, case studies will be used to explain the different purposes of BIM, its benefits and challenges, and how it has been adopted in design, construction and facilities management (FM).
