Betatron, “Where Founders Come First”, is a Hong Kong-based, 3-month, non-vertical accelerator programme run by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. Five early-stage startups will be selected starting mid-October to the end of November 2016 with the initial cohort to begin in January 2017.

Participants

Rafal Czerniawski is currently the Co-founder and CEO of IC Studio, a startup incubation studio based in Hong Kong, a Co-founder of the Betatron startup accelerator and early-stage startups Reach-All and Hopsee as well as CTO at QuikSpaces and a technology advisor for several local startups. A seasoned technologist who breathes and eats software, Rafal was previously CTO and Head of Electronic Trading for CLSA. Rafal has passion for the application of technology to change the world, driven by a constant hunger for execution and new ideas. Rafal holds a bachelors degree in Computer Science from the University of Newcastle.

Daniel A. Lo is the Founder & CEO of GoGoChart, one of the fastest growing mobile traffic platforms specialising in mobile app marketing on a global scale. His background includes various roles in sales and business development both in the UK and Hong Kong. Daniel studied Business Marketing at the University of Portsmouth.

Roland Yau worked at one of the top international law firms prior to joining CoCoon Ignite Ventures. As a lawyer, Roland focused on fundraising for large conglomerates and worked on some of the largest mergers and acquisitions in Hong Kong including Cheung Kong, Hutchison, HKT and HKBN. One of his key focuses at CoCoon Ignite Ventures is to oversee deal execution and growth opportunities for Hong Kong. Roland attended NYU and holds an LLB from the University of London.

David has been involved with some of the most transformative companies to emerge from Silicon Valley and Asia. While working in finance, David started investing and advising his family’s office with a focus in media technologies. David has worked as an Analyst in Morgan Stanley, Vice President in Credit Suisse and Director at Guosen Securities in Hong Kong. David studied Business and Politics at the University of California, San Diego and is passionate about fitness, biotech and wearables.

Michael Kerr is the Programme Manager for the Betatron Startup Accelerator. For most of his early career he was a programmer and consultant for two early-stage companies developing financial software in Canada. In 2009 he came to Hong Kong where he found sanctuary in the burgeoning startup community, in roles that included CTO at SodaCard and co-founder of gaming-related startup Brass City. Mike holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Guelph and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
