Event description
Join Bernard Kwan, Bhakti Wong and Olivia Cotes-James for a discussion on Taboo in Asia

About this event

Menstruating, orgasms, miscarriages, lactation issues and menopause. These are all part of life but are seldom openly discussed in Asia.

Join this panel discussion as three experts tackle these topics, tell us about the experiences and challenges that we (including men) face and how to deal with them.

1. What are the taboos you faced growing up as a women, or as a son, husband, dad?

2. Why do you think there are such taboos in society, especially in this part of the world, where it's modern, people here are educated etc

3. How do you think we can tackle these taboos?

Today, healthy LUÜNA period care products are available for subscription online, through retailers including Watsons and in bathrooms of major corporations and schools through the company's unique dispenser system.

Bhakti Wong

Bhakti first discovered yoga in 2002 while looking for an effective, travel-friendly exercise that worked with her demanding, frequent-flyer corporate career. The convenience of being able to keep fit wherever there was just enough space for simply a bath towel appealed greatly to her sense of practicality! Before long, doing postures was not enough, and she pursued the study of yoga philosophy, mindfulness and a bit more anatomy!

Today, Bhakti is a somatic therapist, and yoga and mindfulness teacher. She has worked to educate and empower thousands of women towards greater awareness of their bodies and innate wisdoms, and has appeared in local magazines to talk about women’s health. She has also appeared on local TV and spoken to many working families in large corporations on managing children’s anxieties, and she teaches at an international school on children’s mindfulness.

Bhakti currently offers group yoga classes especially designed for women, where she addresses issues related to the woman’s whole reproductive cycle, including painful menstruation, optimising fertility and conception, ensuring a smooth pregnancy, recovering from miscarriages, preparing for birth, postpartum care, pelvic floor re- conditioning, menopause and others. These classes are a combination of yoga, meditation and mindfulness exercises that guide the woman to develop her intuition and knowingness. The classes are held at at IKIGAI studios in Central and Causeway Bay, and is a safe space to address any women’s health issues that one may have.

Based in Hong Kong, Bhakti facilitates group workshops, hosts private retreats and also leads trainings as well as continuing education and mentorship programmes.
