Claudio Coviello, Principal Dancer
Born in Potenza, in southern Italy, Claudio Coviello moved to Rome in his teens to pursue ballet studies at the dance school of Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, where he had the opportunity to meet Carla Fracci, one of the most acclaimed Italian ballerinas. After graduating in 2009, Claudio Coviello joined Teatro alla Scala in Milan, where he was appointed Principal Dancer in 2012. He has since performed major roles, such as Albrecht in “Giselle”, Lensky in “Onegin”, Siegfried in Nureyev’s “Swan Lake” and Romeo in MacMillan’s “Romeo and Juliet”. Claudio Coviello has toured around the world, including Brasil, China, Russia and many other countries. This is his second time performing in Hong Kong, where he danced with La Scala Ballet during the Hong Kong Arts Festival in 2014.
Martina Arduino, Principal Dancer
Martina Arduino started dancing in her native town near Turin, in northwestern Italy, at the age of 4. In 2007, she joined the Academy of Dance “Accademia Teatro alla Scala” in Milan, from which she graduated with highest honours in 2015. She later joined La Scala Theatre Ballet as a professional dancer, and she has been recently appointed Principal Dancer. Martina has performed in several main roles in renowned theatres both in Italy and abroad, including Odette/Odile in Alexei Ratmansky’s “Swan Lake” and Juliet in MacMillan’s “Romeo and Juliet”. She has received prestigious awards for her interpretations.
Mattia Semperboni, Corps de Ballet
Mattia Semperboni studied under the direction of Frédéric Olivieri at La Scala Theatre Ballet Academy, where he graduated in classical and contemporary dance in 2014. As a member of La Scala Theatre Corps de Ballet, he has performed in several productions both at Teatro alla Scala in Milan and abroad. Mattia Semperboni has danced in ballets such as “Swan Lake”, “Boléro”, “Nutcracker”, “Romeo and Juliet” and many others.
Nicoletta Manni, Principal Dancer
A member of the La Scala Theatre Ballet since 2009, Nicoletta Manni was promoted to Prima Ballerina in April 2014. Born in Galatina, in southeastern Italy, she began dancing as a little child, encouraged by her mother Anna De Matteis. When she was 12, she started training at the La Scala Theatre Ballet School, where she graduated in 2009. At the age of 17 she joined the Berlin State Ballet, but returned to La Scala four years later. Nicoletta Manni has performed the role of Myrtha in “Giselle” and Odette/Odile in “Swan Lake”. She has also performed as a soloist in George Balanchine's “Rubies”.
Timofejs Andrijašenko, Principal Dancer
Timofejs Andrijašenko comes from Riga, Latvia, where he started his ballet studies at the city’s National State Academy. A scholarship from the International Dance Competition “City of Spoleto” allowed him to attend the Russian Ballet College in Genoa, Italy. Over the years he has gained several awards, both in Italy and abroad. Timofejs Andrijašenko first joined the Ballet Company of Rome Opera and then, in 2014, La Scala Theatre Ballet in Milan. He has performed in leading roles in some of the major productions at La Scala Theatre and elsewhere. Since 2016 he has performed on a regular basis with La Scala’s Principal Dancer Étoile, Roberto Bolle, both in Ballet Galas and in TV shows.
Vittoria Valerio, Soloist
Vittoria Valerio was born in Palermo, Sicily. After completing her training in classical dance at the Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung in Munich under the direction of Kostanze Vernon, she collaborated with the Bayerisches Staatsballett in Munich, with the Ballett der Wiener Staatsoper und Volksoper in Vienna, and joined the Ballett Zürich as a Demi-Soloist. She has been a Soloist at La Scala Theatre Ballet since 2012. Her repertoire at La Scala includes the Principal role in Balanchine’s “Rubies and Emeralds”, Odette/Odile in Nureyev’s “Swan Lake”, Juliet in MacMillan’s “Romeo and Juliet”, among others.

The La Scala Theatre Ballet (Italian: Corpo di ballo del Teatro alla Scala) is the resident classical ballet company at La Scala in Milan, Italy. One of the oldest and most renowned ballet companies in the world, the company predates the theatre, but was officially founded at the inauguration of La Scala in 1778. Many leading dancers have performed with the company, including Mara Galeazzi, Alessandra Ferri, Viviana Durante, Roberto Bolle and Carla Fracci. The official associate school of the company is the La Scala Theatre Ballet School (Italian: Scuola di Ballo del Teatro alla Scala), a constituent of the La Scala Theatre Academy (Italian: Accademia Teatro alla Scala).
