About this event
BE HERE NOW
CACAO ◦ HEART-OPENING YOGA ◦ FIRE ◦ BREATHWORK ◦ TEA & CAKE ◦ SHARING CIRCLE
Join us for an authentic, grounding, and heart-opening day — an invitation to let go of the noise, the plans, and the pace, and simply be here now.
Hidden in the hills of Tai O, Lantau, this Secret Zen Garden is one of Hong Kong’s best-kept treasures — a place rarely open to the public, where the spirit of the land still hums beneath the banyans and the air itself seems to exhale peace. To arrive here is to feel something ancient and quiet awaken inside you — a sense of stillness, of belonging, of home.
Baba’s Community Brunches aren’t your usual brand of wellness. There’s no gloss, no sugar-coating, no spiritual performance. Just real, embodied experiences — designed to help you rest deeply in yourself, soften your edges, and reconnect with what truly matters.
Each gathering weaves the elements — earth, fire, breath, food, and community — into a day that reminds us how to be human again. We share lovingly prepared food, honest conversation, and practices that open the body, clear the mind, and nourish the heart.
Our intention is simple: that you leave with something real — a moment of clarity, a breath of peace, a spark of connection — that you can carry back into your life.
We invite you to come and try something a little different this March.
Our arms and hearts are open. Come as you are.
The Day...
Our day unfolds gently, held by nature’s quiet intelligence.
We begin with an opening circle with ceremonial cacao, the medicine of the heart, grounding us in softness and presence. From there, Bex will move us into move into heart-opening yoga, awakening the body and breath, before gathering for a nourishing plant-based brunch with Paloma.
After lunch, Matt will guide a breathwork journey — a chance to release, realign, and reconnect with your deeper self. Each practice builds upon the next, inviting you back into what is real, simple, and alive.
Throughout the day, the fire will burn at the centre — a living altar for transformation and renewal. Around it, we gather in rhythm and reflection, in laughter and in silence.
We’ll close the day as baba’s always does — with tea, cake, and community.
A slow exhale shared among friends, new and old.
A simple joy.
A gentle reminder — that life is always inviting us here, now.
Spaces are limited in this hidden garden.
Come as you are. Leave a little lighter.

OPENING CACAO CIRCLE & HEART-OPENING PRACTICE ♥️
With Rebecca
10:00am - 12:00pm
We’ll begin the day together in the calm of the Zen Garden — surrounded by the sounds of birds and the gentle warmth of morning light. With a cup of ceremonial cacao, we’ll take a moment to arrive, to breathe, and to connect with ourselves and the new day.
As the cacao begins to flow through the body, we’ll move through a series of gentle heart-opening yoga — softening the chest and shoulders, inviting space through the spine, and allowing the breath to move more freely. This practice helps awaken the body, clear the mind, and return us to the simplicity of being here now.
We’ll then explore Heart-Breath Cohesion Pranayama, using the breath to bring the heart and mind into harmony — balancing the nervous system, deepening inner presence, and clearing any past residue within the heart.
Each of these pactices are cultivating clarity in the system for meditation. Using your awareness, you will be guided to create space between identification — the thoughts, stories, and roles we often hold onto — and the deeper awareness beneath them. As we soften that space, we open to the unknown: the living possibility of the holy instant, the pure aliveness of this very moment.
This morning session welcomes all levels. It’s a simple, grounding way to begin the day — returning to calm, openness, and presence in the beauty of nature.
You may wish to bring:
• A yoga mat or blanket
• Light, comfortable clothing
• A shawl or extra layer for meditation
• Water
SOUL-FULL SUNDAY BRUNCH
By Paloma’s Kitchen
12:30 PM – 2:00 PM
Food to us is communion. A conversation between body and soul. A pause where the morning’s practice finds its place inside you.
Paloma’s Kitchen brings this spirit to life with a vibrant, plant-based buffet — seasonal, allergen-free, and crafted with love. Each dish is made with pure ingredients, free from anything unnecessary, allowing the body to rest and receive without effort.
After a morning of movement, breath, and connection with the land, this meal is our way of returning to earth — grounding, replenishing, and celebrating the simple joy of eating together.
We share food as we share stories: side by side, without pretense. There’s laughter, warmth, and the quiet satisfaction that comes from real nourishment. Every dish is designed to be kind on the belly, generous in flavour, and rich in care — a feast that feels like home.
Here, eating becomes a meditation.
A way to honour the season, the soil, and the hands that prepared it.
A reminder that what feeds the body also feeds the spirit.
Come hungry.
Leave inspired — and beautifully full.
BREATHWORK FOR PRESENCE
Guided by Matt
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Under the canopy of ancient trees, the breath becomes our bridge — between what has been held and what longs to be free.
This Conscious Connected Breathwork journey is an invitation to surrender to the intelligence already moving within you. With Matt’s guidance and a carefully curated soundscape, we enter a rhythmic, meditative state that allows emotion to move, energy to rebalance, and the deeper layers of self to be felt and seen.
We begin in stillness, arriving through a short meditation to ground the body and open the heart. From there, the breath becomes the teacher — revealing what is ready to be released, reclaimed, or remembered. Each session is different, meeting you exactly where you are. What unfolds cannot be forced; it is simply allowed.
The experience can be activating, cathartic, and deeply restorative — a natural clearing that leaves you lighter, clearer, and closer to your own truth.
Afterwards, we rest and integrate, letting the echoes of the journey settle quietly into the body.
Bring:
– A journal and pen for reflections
– Comfortable clothing
– A blanket or shawl for moments of stillness
For those who wish to go deeper, one-to-one sessions with Matt are available — a chance to explore your breath as a unique map of consciousness and transformation.
TEA, TREATS & SHARING CIRCLE
3:45 PM – 5:00 PM
As our journey together draws to a close, we return once more to the fire — our quiet companion throughout the day. Its warmth invites us to pause, to breathe, and to let the experience settle into the body.
This final space unfolds slowly. We gather for tea and handmade plant-based treats, sharing stories, laughter, or silence — whatever feels true in the moment. An optional sharing circle offers a chance to speak from the heart, to integrate through reflection and connection, or simply to witness others in their process.
There is no structure, no rush, and no expectation — only the gentle hum of presence and the soft crackle of the fire. You may sit in conversation, write in your journal, or close your eyes and rest.
This is how we end — simply, beautifully — with warmth, togetherness, and the quiet knowing that something inside has shifted.
A gentle close to our day of earth, breath, and belonging.
About The Secret Garden
Nestled in the tranquil mountains of Lantau, near the picturesque village of Tai O, The Secret Garden is a hidden retreat like no other in Hong Kong. Open to the public only on rare occasions, this Zen-inspired sanctuary is thoughtfully designed to offer rest and renewal for the spirit—a space to rediscover peace and restore the heart.
Getting to this hidden gem is an adventure in itself. It’s a 2-hour journey from Central, travelling via Tung Chung or Mui Wo (by bus), followed by a short walk or light hike. While the trip requires a bit of commitment, the reward is immense: a day-long immersion in one of Hong Kong’s most magical secrets.
Detailed directions will be provided by email and shared in the event’s WhatsApp group closer to the date. We can’t wait to welcome you! (And remember, it’s called The Secret Garden for a reason—let’s keep it hush-hush.)
About Baba’s Community Brunches
Since February 2023, Baba’s Community Brunches have been redefining wellness in Hong Kong by offering accessible and inclusive experiences. These seasonal gatherings arose from a desire to challenge the often exclusive, high-cost nature of wellness in the city, instead creating an open, loving, and welcoming space for all.
Our brunches also serve as a platform for the community to share their wellness offerings, whether they are seasoned practitioners or new teachers seeking a supportive space to grow. Each event is carefully crafted to encourage connection, inspiration, and growth, while enjoying nourishing food and meaningful practices.
We look forward to spending this special day with you! 🌿✨
In the event of disruptive weather and cancellation, a full refund will be provided. However, we regret that we cannot offer refunds for personal cancellations or no-shows.
