Event description

Description

“Art challenges technology, and technology inspires the art.” At the heart of this statement by John Lasseter, an artist at Pixar, lies the idea that technology and art, when joined together, hold a unique and promising potential to amplify creativity. Bryan Chung Wai Ching, an interactive media artist, design consultant and assistant professor at Hong Kong Baptist University will contrast virtual reality and augmented reality concepts in the creative arts, including film and advertising, and show locally developed AR applications. Robert Sumner, Associate Director of Disney Research Zurich (DRZ) and Founder of the ETH Zurich Game Technology Center, will share research on "Augmented Creativity" that shows the unique potential of augmented reality to enhance creative play. He will present several live demos to highlight work in this area. To conclude, the speakers will discuss the interplay of technology and art with a panel of experts.

Presented by ETH Zurich in partnership with Hong Kong Baptist University

(“Art challenges technology, and technology inspires the art.”)
