How can we use design thinking to solve D&I problems?

About this Event

Design Thinking is a human-centered, iterative process that designers use to tackle problems.

This webinar is an introduction to the design thinking approach and mindset, and how it might be used to build a better LGBT+ friendly community. We’ll give the participants a flavor for some of the techniques and methods of design thinking that can awaken the innovative and problem-solving abilities within each of us.

Learning objectives

•What is D&I, and why is it important

•D&I in HK today, the LGBT+ community in HK today

•Intro to Design Thinking (the 5 basic steps)

•Empathy (The part we focus on)

•Some examples of LGBT issues from the community (such as quotes that talk about pain points, mindset, wishes, etc.)

Our speakers - Joseph Lei

Joseph is a designer who believes in social innovation and promoting Design Thinking. He is experienced in projects in industrial design, health care, aging, etc., all with social causes. Joseph enjoys teaching / facilitating Design Thinking workshops to individuals as well as organizations such as the Hong Kong Government (Efficiency Office), PolyU, HKUST, Ocean Park, YPO, Deloitte, Y.E.S. (Youth Employment Start), etc. Before engaging in the design field, Joseph started out with an MBA and used to work in the US in show biz, and licensing. He is also a photographer, videographer, and has done commercial work. Joseph produces and hosts video programs on social media.

In 2019, Joseph went to California in person to get certified as a Designing Your Life Certified Coach and since helped many to become their own life designers. He has been using Designing Your Life tools in numerous talks, group coaching, as well as individual coaching in the past two years, outreaching to hundreds of people’s lives. Joseph is one of the few who applies DYL, ICF style coaching, together with Design Thinking and MBA knowledge to his clients.
