With 10 online training modules and 1 one-on-one consulative session, our trainer and consultant will guide you through the APC process to complete the RICS assessment, to become a chartered surveyor of Building Surveying.

This program covers the definitions of RICS APC mandatory, core and your optional competencies so you will understand how to demonstrate them in both of your written assessment and final assessment interview.

The dedicated consultants will support you through the assessment process. During the one-on-one consultative session, the trainer will advise you with the best practice and solutions for your Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).

Upom completion of the program, your written assessment will be ready for submission and will be prepared for the final interivew.

Day TWO - 5 June / 10:00am - 3:30pm

  • Module 2 - Inspection
  • Module 3 - Building pathology

Day THREE - 10 July / 10:00am - 3:30pm

  • Module 4 - Design and specification
  • Module 5 - Construction technology and environmental services

Day FOUR - 31 July / 10:00am - 3:30pm

  • Module 6 - Contract administration
  • Module 7 - Legal / regulatory compliance

Day FIVE - 5 August 2021 / 7:00pm - 9:00pm

  • Module 8 - Fire safety and common optional competencies

Day SIX - 28 August / 10:00am - 3:30pm

  • Module 9 - Mandatory competencies demonstration
  • Module 10 - Preparing for your case study and final assessment

1-on-1 consulation

This 2-hour consulative session will be arranged upon completion of the training sessions. Basing on your draft of Summary of Experience (SoE) and Case Study, the trainer will provide customized advices on how to complete your written assessment and demonstrate your competenices in the Final Assessment Interview.

Learning objective

By completing this program, you will be able to:

  • Apply appropriate inspection and measurement techniques
  • Identify the key stages and the requirements of the RICS APC assessment
  • Understand best practice for Building Surveying (RICS's standard)
  • Explain the mandatory competencies in the Final Assessment Interview
  • Demonstrate high standard knowledge of the core and optional competencies of the Building Surveying APC pathway in the summaries of experience
  • Identify the areas which you need drill into
  • Prepare your Summary of Experience and Case Study for submission (written assessment)


Mr PF Chan


Mr PF Chan is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 30 years post-qualification experience in building surveying practice, with regard to the control, development, maintenance and management of various kinds of properties embracing the core competences of the RICS building surveying pathway.

He has been the RICS APC assessor/chairperson since 2005. He also serves as assessor / council member of other local professional institutions in building surveying and construction management respectively.


Mr. Peter Au

Mr Au has been working in the learning & development industry for more than 10 years. He has served across a number of professions such as legal, auditing, finance and I.T. security.

Mr Au worked in RICS in the last couple of years and was responsible for creating and operating training courses for APC or trainees. He has comprehensive understanding of all requirements of APC assessment and his programs were appreciated by the delegates since these programs increase the passing rate of RICS APC assessment.
