Through the oral histories of local villagers, participants will delve into the layered narratives of the village’s past and its aspirations for the future. The experience culminates in a creative workshop where participants will use AI technology to generate an image inspired by Chuen Lung, collectively contributing to an art installation that encapsulates the village’s temporal and emotional landscape.
“Chuen Lung Visual Research Archive” Open Studio (II)
Date: 6 Sepember - 12 October 2025
Time: 11:00-18:00
Embark on a complex journey through time and space in Chuen Lung, tracing the entangled trajectories of rural life caught between tradition and modernity. Through the distinct perspectives of artists Tse Pak Chai, Tung Chiu On, and Ho Lap Yan, "Chuen Lung Visual Chronicles: Open Studio II" presents a dynamic map of Hong Kong's rural past, present and future. Spanning themes of reimagining land, documenting the daily lives of villagers in the 1960s, and tracing their spatial mobility between work and leisure through and across the village, the exhibition offers more than a vivid portrayal of rural transformations amid urbanization and modernization. It serves as a critical reflection on how temporal and spatial dimensions shape communities and identities.
Mono Tung Presents: “Air Remembers and Inspires”
“Air Remembers and Inspires” is a participatory installation composed of inflatable modular units. Based on interviews with the villagers of Chuen Lung, the project transforms their memories of the village, present reflections, and hopes and plans for the future into a tangible architectural form.
Visitors are not merely observers — they are invited to engage with the structure and become co-creators of this soft, living space. Like a vessel of memory, the pavilion carries the dreams of the past while nurturing visions of what is yet to come. Through moments of assembly, pause, and imagination, new connections are formed among people, and the stories once held in the air find ways to be continued and reimagined.
