AfroHive is an all-in-one community fair and dance festival showcasing Afrobeats, Afro-culture, and black-owned businesses in Hong Kong. From an Afro-culture fair in the afternoon featuring food by Africa Centre, to an exclusive Afrobeats dance workshop led by Anisha Thai, a dance battle judged by SukiRabbit with DJ Monsta Kei on the decks, and a mini party featuring DJ SINO, AfroHive promises an unforgettable celebration of diversity and creativity.

About Anisha Thai

Artist, Content creator, Choreographer, Dancer, Anisha Thai was born and raised in Paris and is now based in Hong Kong. Starting out in the city as a Civil Engineer, Anisha took the plunge and quit her job after winning a TVB Dance Competition in 2021.

Now, advocating Diversity and African culture in Asia, Anisha is also the face of many notable brand names including Tommy Hilfiger, Hennessy, NBA, Lululemon, Fenty Beauty, & Apple, and continues to use her platform to spread diversity and inclusion through her art and positive message. She recently participated in a TV Reality show on Netflix in 2023 and gave her first Tedx talk in January 2024.


About Africa Center Hong Kong

Africa Center Hong Kong is a social enterprise that fosters value-creating interactions between African and non-African communities in Asia. They envision a future where Africa has an equal footing.

Their mission is to rebrand blackness, connect communities, and raise black consciousness. They achieve this through various cultural exchange programs, such as food, arts, literature, etc. They seek partnerships with schools, corporations, NGOs, and members of the public to conduct social impact programmes.


About the DJs

SINO

SINO, aka Clarisa is an accomplished dancer, choreographer and instructor/ educator. She decided to take her love for dance and music a step further and delve into deejaying late last year, with the aim of spreading her love for different Afro music genres to Asia and beyond.


Monsta Kei
Monsta Kei is a renowned household name amongst the street dance community of Hong Kong. An experienced DJ and house dancer, he has deejayed and organized events for the local street dance scene for over 10 years and counting, with a special affinity for battle events.

African Drum Dance HK

Makha Diop, born and raised on Goree Island, Senegal-West Africa, is a master of African percussion. With roots in the renowned group Africa Djembe of Goree, Makha's talent gained international recognition when he performed for dignitaries like Nelson Mandela and former US President Bill Clinton. In 2001, Makha brought his captivating performances to Hong Kong, founding the African Drumming and Dance Connection (ADADC) and SANKOFA Hong Kong African Arts & Culture Association. Since 2002, ADADC has been a pioneer in promoting African culture throughout Asia, offering performances and educational programs that inspire harmony and cooperation through drumming. Makha's commitment extends beyond entertainment, supporting and collaborating with the broader African arts community in Hong Kong and beyond.


Daniel Murray Studios

Daniel, a UK native with Jamaican heritage, discovered his love for photography in Hong Kong, where he cultivated his skills across various genres, from events to food to portraits. Renowned for his versatility and storytelling prowess, Daniel captures the essence of his subjects with ease and authenticity.


RVZR

R.V.Z.R., also known as Robyn Zanine, is a South African artist based and brought up in Hong Kong. This unique blend of cultural influences has provided her with inspiration for her artwork.

Mondo Crazy Productions, founded by filmmaker Miguel, brings a fresh perspective to storytelling in the vibrant landscape of Hong Kong. As an Associate Video Producer at South China Morning Post, Miguel channels his creative energy into crafting impactful stories that captivate audiences.
