🎨 Day 3: The "Colors of the Continent" Visual Arts Studio
Paint, weave, and sculpt your way through Africa's artistic heritage!
On our final day, we transform the camp into a vibrant art studio. We invite campers to explore the bold patterns, intricate textures, and symbolic meanings behind traditional and contemporary African art. This day focuses on patience, creativity, and the joy of making something beautiful with your own hands to take home as a keepsake.
Event Highlights:
- 🎭 African Mask Making: Learn the cultural significance of ceremonial masks and design a unique piece using recycled materials and traditional motifs.
- 🦁 Tinga Tinga Painting: Dive into the bright, cartoon-like style of painting from Tanzania. We’ll create colorful animal portraits inspired by this famous East African art movement.
- 💇🏾♀️ Afro-Textured Hair Workshop: A celebration of coils and curls! We explore the science, care, and art of styling Afro-textured hair (including a braiding crash course).
- 📿 Beads & Accessories Making: Master the meticulous art of beadwork to create vibrant bracelets, necklaces, or waist beads.
