[$380] Okanagan, Rhone & Tuscany wine grapes blind tasting

For our coming session, we will explore Rhône and Tuscany grape varieties through a blind tasting, with a special highlight on two acclaimed Okanagan Valley wineries: Le Vieux Pin and LaStella. This round will allow us to compare their Syrah, Sangiovese, and Rhône-style whites with classic examples from France and Italy of similar vintages and price points.

In this tasting, we will examine how different terroirs shape grape varieties traditionally associated with regions such as Côte Rôtie, Barossa, and Tuscany. Blind tasting will help us assess purity, style, and structure without bias.

We expect to open a selection of wines covering multiple regions and vintages. As many wines come from the same producers, this gives us a great opportunity to focus on both regional expression and vintage variation.

Food:
We will order takeaway to share among participants. Estimated cost: around $200 per person.

Host:
As usual, one of our WSET Level 4 candidates will guide us through each wine using WSET Diploma tasting techniques.

I will also share insights as a British Columbia Wine Ambassador, especially regarding the terroir and winemaking philosophy behind the Okanagan wines featured.
