Description

"The forest is the therapist. The guide opens the door."

Forest Therapy Guided Walk, session 2

Forest Therapy Guided Walks take participants slowly and intentionally through Nature. Your Guide gives a series of invitations that bring connection to your senses, yourself, and to others. Through these invitations, you gain a deeper appreciation of the many living and non-living things through moving slowly, and mindfully through the trails.

The premise is simple yet profound: by spending time enjoying nature, we reconnect to our relationship with the natural world, developing a sense of belonging, while tending to our self care. For this reason, Forest Therapy Walks offer something different to a hiking tour and you may even begin to view the natural environment in a whole new way.

Why Forest Therapy?
The fast paced lifestyles that we are accustomed to in Hong Kong, can cause a great deal of stress, physically and emotionally. Most of the time we may not even be aware of the pressure our body and mind are under as a result of living in a city that is so dynamic, competitive and exciting.
Luckily, Hong Kong also offers incredible examples of natural beauty. Forest Therapy Walks allow for us to retune our bodies to nature's clock, where we can give our brains a break, and take the opportunity to connect with what is truly important to us.

Studies have found the following benefits from Forest Therapy:
Lowers Blood pressure
Lowers Cortisol (stress hormone)
Boost immune system functioning
Increased concentration/focus
Emotional clarity
Improved mood

FAQs

What are my transport options for getting to and from the event?

Take Exit C at Tung Chung MTR station, and walk 2-3 mins to Tung Chung Bus terminus (outdoor) on Tat Tung Road. Meeting point is by the public toilets. Please contact us for a map.

What should I bring to the walk?

Essential:
Water bottle, 1.5litres
Hat, sunscreen, mosquito repellent
Comfortable clothing, suitable for outdoors and sitting on the floor
Closed toed walking shoes

Optional:
Journal/notebook
A mat, or camping chair if sitting on the ground is uncomfortable

You are welcome to bring your camera, but do encourage people to leave digital devices behind during the 3 hour walk.

How long will the walk take?
The Forest Therapy walk itself will be 3 hours. However, please allow for 45 mins walk to and from the venue. You should plan to spend approx 5 hours total.
Participants are welcome to stay, and enjoy the venue after the walk is complete.

Will there be toilets there?
Yes - there will be several toilets at the venue.

Will there be food provided?
Snacks will be provided by the organiser. However, we recommend you bring a packed lunch or snacks to keep you happy, espcially if you plan on staying at the venue.
Please contact us if you have any dietary requirements.

I have missed the 1st session, does this matter?
Not at all. Forest Therapy Walks will be guided slightly differently each time, even if its at the same location. Each persons experience will be different, and deepens over time with more connection. Newcomers are welcome, as are people who have joined previous walks before.

I'm not very fit, does this matter?
The Forest Therapy Walk is designed to slow us down, tune into our senses, and the environment. The pace of the Forest Therapy walk will therefore be very slow, and suitable for all levels of fitness.
However, the walk to the venue does include a short, but steep section on the trail. Participants will encouraged to walk slowly, and at a pace that is comfortable for them. There is no rush.

Are my children allowed to come?
Kembali will be offering walks for children and families in the future, please contact us if you are interested in booking a family event.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes - for safety reasons, we would require participants to connect with us prior to the walk. So if someone comes in your place, please do inform us so we can collect the necessary information.
