Ix Wong, born in 1974 in Malaysia, is a choreographer, dancer, and costume designer known for his evocative exploration of queer identity through movement. A graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Wong began his career as a dancer with the Hong Kong City Contemporary Dance Company before co-founding the contemporary dance group Ah Hock and Peng Yu with his partner, Singaporean dancer Aaron Khek Ah Hock. Together, they co-created numerous works, including Excessive Space-Constricted Space (2002) and Peng Yu (2004). Their creative partnership was tragically cut short when Wong was diagnosed with HIV and later lost Khek to cancer. Despite these challenges, Wong has continued to create deeply personal and innovative art, including collaborations with directors Glen Goei, Christopher Doyle, and Gavin Yap on films such as Always Together Forever Apart (2014) and The Smiling Tiger (2016).
Wong’s work embodies resilience and the transformative power of art, using the body to express love, grief, and rebirth. His poignant artistic journey, marked by personal loss and profound creativity, has redefined contemporary dance as a medium for queer expression. This year, the Macao International Queer Film Festival honors Wong by showcasing four of his dance films, highlighting his ability to use movement as a vessel for exploring the beauty and strength of queer life.
黃天寶，1974年生於馬來西亞，是編舞家、舞者及服裝設計師，以舞蹈探索酷兒身份及生命哲思。1998年畢業於香港演藝學院後，曾任香港城市當代舞蹈團專業舞者，後與伴侶、新加坡舞者郭亞福共創 Ah Hock and Peng Yu 當代舞團，並擔任藝術總監。他們共同創作了多部作品，包括《極度空間。狹隘空間》(2002)、《聖杯》(2003)及《Peng Yu》(2004)。然而，因天寶感染 HIV，無奈退下舞台，並在郭亞福因癌症病逝後，失去至愛與舞台夥伴。
面對人生的困境，天寶以堅韌不屈的精神，透過藝術與身體對話，探索愛、哀傷與重生。他與導演魏銘耀、杜可風合作的《春風吹又生》(2014)，以及與導演曾翠珊共同創作的 VR 影片《無舞之間》，展現了其獨特的藝術視野。本屆澳門國際酷兒影展特設「焦點藝術家-黃天寶」單元，展映其四部舞蹈影像作品，讓觀眾透過他的創作，感受酷兒生命的韌性與美學。
