Event description

Description

We are excited to invite you to the second Asia-Pacific Rainbow Families Forum, consisting of several public events, workshops and panels over 2-days strategically scheduled to coincide with the upcoming International Family Equality Day (IFED) and the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT).
The goal of the APRFF is to raise awareness of the existence of rainbow families in the Asia-Pacific region and highlight the important ways families headed by sexual-minorities require and seek support. By raising awareness, we hope to achieve recognition, protection and equal treatment of rainbow families and LGBTQI+ people inclusive of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics. (SOGIESC).Learn more about the event by viewing this video recap from last year.
While the APRFF focuses on families headed by LGBTQI people, you don’t need to be gay or a parent to attend, to learn or to contribute. Representatives of diverse races, orientations, abilities, orientations, genders and persuasions from almost 30 countries from across the region will be converging on Hong Kong to have interactive courageous conversations and regional dialogue. Core themes to be explored include: interfaith intersectionality, media advocacy & visibility, support for LGBTQI and rainbow families in the workplace, and in-depth look at intersex people and ethics.

Please note the venue is different on Day 1 and Day 2:
Day 1 is at Eaton Hotel, Ballroom, 380 Nathan Road, Jordan and Day 2 is on Level 20, HSBC Main Building in Central.

Highlights include:

2 Workplace Panels:
The Business of Rainbow Families and Supporting Rainbow Families in the Workplace
Faith in the Workplace Panel from experts from Australia, Fiji, Samoa and South Africa
Data Research Panel of experts from Fiji, HK, Iran, Ireland and the US,
An all trans panel of parents from HK, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Samoa and Tonga!
An all intersex panel of experts from HK, Aus and the Netherlands
Country Briefings from Australia, Cambodia, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Samoa and Taiwan
A Marriage Equality Panel sharing perspectives from Australia, Japan and Taiwan

We are thrilled to welcome our friends at Global Interfaith Network (GIN-SSOGIE), who are a key collaborator this year. They will be sharing their Reclaiming “Families and Traditional Values” Project, a series of regionally-grounded seminars to present a different, more inclusive, theological and reality-based definition of "the family and traditional values". We also are delighted to welcome Sparking Change an Australian-based organization that uses the power of story to spark social change. Other key content collaborators include Amnesty International, the InterBank Forum, Hong Kong Gay and Lesbian Attorney’s Network, the University of Hong Kong, the Sexualities Research Programme, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Pink Dot HK, West Island School, and so many more. Also, we are so proud to be hosted by our partners the Eaton Hotel and HSBC.
